Those with the 2G iPhone will definately want to make the upgrade to the iPhone 3GS right away. Those of us with an iPhone 3G might have to do more explaining to out wives. I purchased an Apple iPhone 3GS because I really like the faster speed and all the new features such as the digital compass. The new Apple iPhone 3GS is an evolutionary step up from my old iPhone 3G.
