The Kindle, created by e-commerce giant, Amazon, is a revolutionary new take on the traditional book. The Kindle is essentially a portable eBook reader that only weighs 10.3 ounces, and is only 0.7 inches thick. It is about the same size as a regular paperback book with a much slimmer profile.
With the Kindle, you can hold and carry over 200 eBooks around with you at one time. The real innovation of the Kindle comes from its electronic paper technology, that acts similar to real paper and does not use a backlight or get a glare on its surface. Similar to a book or newspaper, the screen uses ink to display the words, except this ink is electrically charged. This means that you get the look and feel of reading text printed on paper.
Another one of the Kindle’s features is its wireless functionality. Instead of Wi-Fi, the Kindle operates on cellular networks, so you can have access to the entire eBook library wherever you have coverage.

Amazon Kindle Review by Meagan Jones, July 9, 2009
I purchased an Amazon Kindle when I was staying in the USA for a few months in mid-2008. It was pretty handy, but unfortunately I cannot buy any books for it over here in UK… or I can’t get it to work. But, every time I go to the USA for business I stock up with some Amazon Kindle books and read them on the plane home. The battery life is great, the best feature of this product.
